A four-year-old boy in Sydney caused quite a stir when he managed to order over $1,000 worth of gelato and cakes from Gelato Messina using his father’s phone. Christian King surprised his family by placing a massive order on UberEats, including a personalized birthday cake and various tubs of his favorite flavors.
Christian’s father, Kris King, had handed his phone to his son to keep him occupied during his sister’s touch football match. Little did he know that Christian would take advantage of the opportunity to place an extravagant order without his parents’ knowledge.
When an UberEats delivery driver contacted Kris King’s wife to confirm the order, the family was taken aback by the staggering amount. Initially thinking it was $139, they soon realized it was actually $1,139, consisting of an array of cakes and gelato flavors selected by Christian.
Amid the shock and disbelief, Kris King recounted the moment he discovered the extensive order, which included multiple cakes, tiramisu, mushroom cake, chocolate log, and several tubs of strawberries and cream and double dolche gelato. It was evident that Christian had meticulously chosen his favorites.
Despite the unexpected expense, the order was eventually delivered to Newtown Fire Station, where Kris King works as a firefighter. The station crew graciously accepted the delivery and made room in the fridge for the abundance of gelato and cakes.
Upon explaining the situation to UberEats, the company agreed to refund the entire order, much to the relief of the King family. Reflecting on the incident, Kris King expressed surprise that such a significant order went unquestioned, considering the unusual nature of the items ordered.
Initially, Kris King jokingly told his son that Santa wouldn’t be coming this year due to the unexpected expense. However, with the refund secured, Christian found himself back in Santa’s good graces, much to the delight of the family.
