Water, birthday cake, and ducks will converge at a family-friendly celebration hosted by the Cedar City Rotary Club on May 28 at 5 p.m. The event marks the completion of Phase One of the Rotary Club’s Canyon Water Park project, a vision conceived seven years ago.
The project, aimed at providing water-play opportunities in West Canyon Park, showcases the history and heritage of water use in the Cedar valley. With grants from various organizations and community support, the park has become a reality, thanks to the collaborative efforts of Choice Builders, SD Construction, Nelson Dirtworks, and other partners.

Notably, the Central Iron County Water Conservancy District and the Washington Water Conservancy District played significant roles in donating resources for the park. The completion of Phase One represents a milestone in fulfilling the community’s long-standing desire for a water play area.
Meanwhile, the Cedar City Rotary Club is celebrating its 100th birthday, having been established in 1925. From a small group of members, the club has grown to over 105 members, making it one of the prominent clubs in the state. As the club commemorates its centennial, it aligns the celebration with the opening of the Canyon Water Park, showcasing Rotary’s commitment to serving the community.
Randy Allen, the current Rotary President, emphasized the club’s enduring dedication to service and expressed gratitude for the past century of contributions by Rotarians. The celebration not only marks a historical milestone but also serves as a reminder of the legacy of service that the club upholds.

Adding a touch of fun and fundraising to the event, Rotarians will organize a duck race during the park opening. Residents can participate by purchasing rubber ducks in different categories, with proceeds contributing towards the park’s next phase, featuring an all-abilities playground.

Residents can support the cause by purchasing ducks through Venmo or making direct donations. The duck race not only offers a competitive element but also symbolizes community support for the park’s future development.
The Cedar City Rotary Club expresses gratitude to the community for its continuous support and invites everyone to the celebration on May 28. The event promises a blend of water-themed activities, birthday cake in honor of Rotary’s centenary, and the exciting duck race, symbolizing unity and progress in community initiatives.
