Rainbow Dust Acquires Squires Kitchen in Strategic Cake Decoration Merger

Rainbow Dust has recently finalized the acquisition of Squires Kitchen, a renowned brand specializing in cake decorations. This strategic merger aims to integrate their diverse product lines tailored for bakers, sugarcrafters, and chocolatiers. The undisclosed deal marks a significant move by Albex Group, Rainbow Dust’s parent company, to strengthen its position in the market segment. This acquisition follows Rainbow Dust’s previous purchase from Real Food Group in 2023, which led to the administration of Real Food Group and the subsequent sale of JF Renshaw Ltd to British Bakels.

Established in 2008, Rainbow Dust operates from a prestigious BRC AA+ accredited facility in Preston, producing a wide array of food colorings, lustre dusts, glitters, and decorations essential for creating innovative sweet bakes and chocolates. Additionally, their product range includes sugar craft additives like texturizers, icing whiteners, and edible glue. On the other hand, Squires Kitchen, headquartered in Hampshire, has been a key player in the cake decorating and sugarcraft industry for over three decades, offering products such as sugarpaste, icing powders, and cocoa butter colorings.

Both brands, Rainbow Dust and Squires Kitchen, will continue to operate independently post-acquisition, with plans to consolidate Squires Kitchen’s manufacturing operations into Rainbow Dust’s existing facility in Preston. Louise Wane, the Managing Director of Rainbow Dust, emphasized the synergy between the two brands, highlighting their shared commitment to quality, innovation, and British manufacturing. Wane expressed enthusiasm about the merger, stating that the combined offerings of the two brands provide customers with a comprehensive range of products essential for crafting enchanting creations.

Albex Group, based in Paisley, manages a substantial fleet of vehicles and storage facilities across the UK and Europe. With a robust portfolio of ingredients manufacturers, including bakery sector suppliers like Kent Foods, BFP, and Henley Bridge, Albex Group serves a broad clientele and recorded sales of £412 million in 2023. The acquisition of Squires Kitchen by Rainbow Dust signifies a pivotal step in Albex Group’s strategic growth plan within the baking and confectionery sector.

The amalgamation of Rainbow Dust and Squires Kitchen heralds a new chapter in the realm of cake decorations, promising an enhanced product range and innovative solutions for professionals and enthusiasts alike. As Rainbow Dust continues to expand its footprint in the market, this merger sets the stage for further developments and initiatives in 2025. The collaboration between these two esteemed brands is poised to redefine the landscape of cake decoration, offering a harmonious blend of creativity, quality, and British craftsmanship.
