Rainbow Dust Acquires Squires Kitchen in Strategic Move

Rainbow Dust, a prominent player in the cake decoration industry, has recently made a strategic move by acquiring Squires Kitchen, a well-established brand known for its cake decorating and sugarcraft products. This acquisition aims to merge the diverse product lines of both companies, catering to the needs of bakers, sugarcrafters, and chocolatiers alike.

The purchase, finalized for an undisclosed amount, marks a significant step for Rainbow Dust’s parent company, Albex Group, as part of its strategic expansion plans within the market segment. This acquisition follows Rainbow Dust’s previous takeover from Real Food Group in 2023, which led to the acquisition of JF Renshaw Ltd by British Bakels.

Rainbow Dust, founded in 2008, operates from a BRC AA+ accredited facility in Preston, producing an array of food colorings, lustre dusts, glitters, and decorations essential for creating visually appealing sweet bakes and chocolates. On the other hand, Squires Kitchen, based in Hampshire with over 30 years of experience, offers a range of products including sugarpaste, icing powders, and cocoa butter colorings.

Both brands, Rainbow Dust and Squires Kitchen, will continue to operate independently post-acquisition, with the manufacturing of Squires Kitchen products set to transition to Rainbow Dust’s Preston site. Louise Wane, the managing director of Rainbow Dust, emphasized the synergy between the two brands, highlighting their shared dedication to quality, innovation, and British manufacturing.

Wane expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating that the combined product offerings of the two brands provide customers with a comprehensive range of supplies essential for creating enchanting confectionery. She hinted at forthcoming announcements in 2025, hinting at further initiatives to enhance their offerings and services.

Albex Group, headquartered in Paisley, manages an extensive logistics network across the UK and Europe, serving a wide customer base and generating substantial annual sales. The group’s portfolio includes various ingredients manufacturers, such as Kent Foods, BFP, and Henley Bridge, strengthening its position in the bakery sector.

The acquisition of Squires Kitchen by Rainbow Dust signifies a strategic alignment of two prominent players in the cake decoration industry, poised to offer enhanced product diversity, innovation, and quality to their customers. This move underlines Rainbow Dust’s commitment to growth and excellence in the confectionery market, setting the stage for further developments in the coming year.
