Meghan Markle’s Sweet Tribute: Recreating Royal Wedding Cake on Netflix Show

In the debut episode of her Netflix series, “With Love, Meghan,” Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, paid a heartfelt tribute to her royal wedding cake. The show, initially delayed due to the Los Angeles wildfires, aims to offer viewers a glimpse into her current life rather than focusing on her time as a senior royal.

During the episode, Meghan warmly welcomed her close friend and makeup artist, Daniel Martin, showcasing her culinary skills by baking a lemon-flavored cake for him. Despite admitting that baking is not her preferred activity, she embarked on this sweet gesture for Martin, who has a known “sweet tooth.” The intimate kitchen scene unfolded as they decorated the cake together, reminiscing about her wedding cake.

The mention of lemon sparked memories of Meghan and Harry’s wedding cake, a floral-trimmed creation with a lemon and elderflower flavor. The duchess and Martin engaged in a nostalgic conversation about the cake tasting they shared, highlighting the elderflower lemon sponge cake crafted by Claire Ptak of Violet Cakes in London.

The duo proceeded to adorn a tiered “naked cake” using a simple Ziploc bag for icing, a choice that reflected Meghan’s preference for practicality over extravagance. Additionally, the cake was embellished with Meghan’s homemade raspberry preserves, featuring fruits from her personal garden.

Beyond baking, Meghan and Martin delved into other activities during their time together, including crafting candles from beeswax sourced from the Sussexes’ apiary and preparing a wholesome skillet spaghetti dish laden with fresh vegetables. In the subsequent episode, Meghan disclosed to Mindy Kaling her adoption of the surname “Sussex” as her last name, underscoring her journey of personal reinvention and independence.

“With Love, Meghan” offers viewers an intimate and authentic portrayal of Meghan Markle’s post-royal life, showcasing her diverse interests and meaningful connections. The series, comprising eight episodes, is now available for streaming on Netflix, inviting audiences to witness Meghan’s creative pursuits and personal evolution in a candid and engaging manner.
